This mini album is a send up of certain British establishment public (in the British way meaning private) schools, and the psychopaths they churn out to run the country. A few years at a school that charges fees not inferior to the average person's annual wage, where people systematically bullied and sexually absued by both staff and each other, is then followed by a stint at Oxford or Cambridge where PPE (Politics, Philosophy and Economics) is studied, a completely and utterly useless degree that has no practical applications except as a gateway into politics if you have the righty breeding and connections. This makes sure that our politicians are made of the right stuff, that they have the right balance of venality, spite, vindictiveness, malice, chicanery and animal cunning. This is why our political system will never be run by the people for the people, and why the same detestable crew of extended families have been running Britain since 1066. The eponymous Venereal Pustule is a particulary odious character, a violent, vulgar and sexually depraved sadist who hides behind a mask of prim and proper piety. This double life makes her ideal for a career in politics, and of course in the end she walks away from justice in spite of the absolute certainty of her guilt and the dastardly nature of her cowardly crimes, as these people all too often do.
In terms of sound and music, the album attempts to employ new depths of sonic and lyrical vulgarity. Even the name of the eponymous character, Venereal Pustule, was chosen to make people feel a little bit sick in their throat when they hear it. The guitar sounds were created by playing both the bass and guitar, a P-Bass and Schecter Devil, through a Gojira Octaver and a Boss Metalzone, which distort and mangle the fuck out of the sound. The drums were created in FL studio and then saturated with the Head Crusher plugin by Audio Assault. Nothing special was done to the drums. Usually I would create each drum separately so they can be mixed, but in this case I just made 2-track stereo drum sequences and did nothing much to them other than make them louder or quieter (maybe a slight low mid-scoop). The idea was to try to get a sound more brutal and evil even the early 1990's Black Metal, although I'm not sure if that's possible without doing something that doesn't even qualify as being music. Whether I succeeded in that goal or not, it's certainly an evil sound to represent an evil character.
In the end, is she a succubus who has done deals with demons for power, or is she extremely dangerously mentally ill? I've left that up to the listnener to decide. Either way, she shouldn't be allowed out.
